Make it out the group chat

Turn group chat hype into actual plans

Story

Coordinating plans as an adult is surprisingly hard.

Everyone’s busy. Calendars are booked weeks out. Group chats fill with “I’m down” messages, then nothing happens.

I felt this friction firsthand. The problem was alignment - there was easy way for friends to share availability or converge on a date without endless back-and-forth.

So I built "Make it out the group chat"—a lightweight web app designed to do one thing well: help plans leave the group chat.

The idea was intentionally simple. Create an event. Share a link. Everyone enters when they’re free. The app surfaces the best option. No accounts, no complexity. Just enough structure to turn intent into action.

This was also my first end-to-end coding project. I vibe-coded it using OpenAI’s Codex. Along the way, I learned core technical concepts, but more importantly, how to work effectively with AI coding agents: breaking problems down, writing precise instructions, and knowing when to intervene.

The result is a small, focused product born from lived experience—one that reflects how I approach problems: start with real user pain, remove unnecessary friction, and ship something simple that works.
